🎥 Hollywood’s latest role: the cultural consultant | The Listening Post
‘Encanto’, ‘Eternals’, ‘Ms Marvel’. What do these three have in common?
These recent films and TV series made diversity and representation a key aspect of their production and have all relied on a new role that’s revolutionising Hollywood - the cultural consultant.
Movements like #MeToo, #BlackLivesMatter, and #StopAsianHate have helped shift mainstream consciousness around issues of social justice - and cultural consultants are the people tasked with helping Hollywood get with the programme.
The Listening Post’s Flo Phillips explores the role of cultural consultants - are they really helping make Hollywood a better place or are they a substitute for real change?

End of Life Care: Understanding Cultural Differences
#death #dying #culture
Death is a universal experience, but the way we deal with it varies greatly from culture to culture. In this video, we take a look at death and dying around the world and explore some of the major cultural differences.
In Western cultures, death is often seen as a taboo subject. We don't like to talk about it and we try to avoid thinking about it. This is not the case in many other cultures, where death is seen as a natural part of life.
In some #cultures, death is seen as a time of great joy. In #Hinduism, for example, death is seen as the beginning of a new life. #Hindus believe that the soul is reborn into another body after death and that death is simply a transition from one life to the next.
